Golden Traces & Connection

Two works that, at first glance, appear vastly different – yet still speak to each other.

The Exhibition

Poster for the Blooming Art exhibition

Since early October, our works have been showcased in South Korea as part of the 11th Geoje International Art Festival. The exhibition begins at the Kim Boseong Art Center in Seoul and will later continue at the Haegeumgang Theme Museum in Geoje.

A total of 395 artists from 60 countries are participating. This year's theme is "Blooming Art" (꽃피는 예술).

The opening on October 1st was particularly atmospheric. In addition to the artworks, there was live music, classical instruments, and opera singing. This created not the typical silent gallery atmosphere, but rather something vibrant and open.

Unfortunately, we couldn't be there in person. Nevertheless, it's a lovely thought that visitors walk back and forth between both works – from the golden, almost disintegrating crane to the silent encounter between human and horse.

Golden Traces – Acrylic painting of a crane with golden accents

Daniel Heinz

Golden Traces

92.5 × 143.8 cm · Acrylic on canvas · 2025

Golden Traces explores movement, change, and light – something that is just emerging or disappearing.

The Work

The crane dissolves. Golden particles break out of its plumage, black lines run downwards, white blossoms appear between the forms. I am less interested in a frozen moment and more in the feeling of movement.

The gold leaf further transforms the image. Depending on how one stands in front of it or walks past it, the surface reacts completely differently. Some areas suddenly light up, others almost disappear.

Movement and Light

The exciting thing is that the work never looks quite the same. Light, shadow, and movement constantly change the impression. This also automatically makes the viewer part of the painting. Many initially stop briefly and then notice that the surface changes with every step. Exactly this interplay was important during the painting process.

Connection – Painting of a woman with a horse in a meadow

Gulnara Heinz

Connection

115.8 × 75 cm · Acrylic on canvas · 2025

Connection thrives not on action, but on trust and closeness – a calm, very personal moment.

The Work

Connection does not depict a dramatic moment. Rather, it shows something calm and very personal – the closeness between human and animal without grand staging.

The painting was built up layer by layer with fine brushes. The details in the wildflowers, goldfinches, and wheat field were not meant to be decorative, but to convey a specific mood: calm, open, and warm.

The direct gaze of the woman is particularly strong. Not distant, but attentive and present. This creates something very real between the two figures.

Best Artist Award

For Connection, Gulnara Heinz received the Best Artist Award at the 11th Geoje International Art Festival. The jury particularly highlighted the finely crafted painting technique and the calm, emotional impact of the work.

We were incredibly delighted by this award – especially because the painting was created in a very personal way.

Two Works, One Shared Space

Although both works appear very different, they complement each other surprisingly well in the exhibition. Golden Traces thrives on movement, reflection, and change. Connection, on the other hand, thrives on calm and concentration. Perhaps it is precisely this that creates an exciting contrast.

Both works were selected by the international jury led by Heidi Fosil. Our thanks go to Heidi Fosil, Chris Bleichert, and curators Kyung Myung-ja and Yu Chun-up for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this festival.
