Bears have always fascinated me. They appear incredibly powerful and at the same time astonishingly calm. This is precisely the impression I wanted to capture in this painting. The bear moves towards the viewer, present and attentive, without appearing threatening. When painting, I deliberately left many things open. The quick brushstrokes and layers of paint were not meant to describe every detail, but to capture movement and vibrancy. For me, the painting speaks of respect and that special moment when you face a wild animal for an instant.
Photos can only hint at texture, depth, and color brilliance – in reality, this painting is even more impactful.
