With this portrait, I wanted to capture the calm and direct gaze of the Rottweiler. Its posture appears attentive without being tense, and it is precisely this serenity that, for me, defines the character of the painting.
I built up the deep black-brown and warm markings in several layers. Targeted brushstrokes created a visible fur structure, giving the portrait depth and expression.
Photos can only hint at texture, depth and color brilliance – this painting looks even more striking in reality.
