When I painted the picture, I had the feeling that the two hares were communicating with each other. Whether they are meeting, discussing, or simply observing remains open. It is precisely this openness that I like. The many layers, color traces, and drips ensure that the scene does not stand still. I didn't want to create anything smooth or perfect, but something that felt alive. For me, it's therefore not primarily about the animals themselves, but about the tension and closeness that arises between them.
Photos can only hint at texture, depth, and color brilliance – in reality, this painting is even more striking.
